ABOUT COLLEEN OF JOLLY MUTT
Jolly Mutt's roots reach back to 2004 when I started looking after my neighbors' cat when they went out of town. Over the next few years, word of my merits as a pet-sitter spread to the point that what started as a favor to help out a neighbor has grown into a business. I love how pet-sitting gives me the opportunity to spend time with so many different animals and I derive tremendous satisfaction from making the pets in my care feel safe, content, and amply entertained while their owners are away.
The name Jolly Mutt is a tribute to one of my clients. A photograph I took of her incredibly goofy grin landed her in the "Smilers" section of January 2012 issue of Bark magazine! When designing a logo for my business, I immediately thought of her irresistible smile. I think her great grin nicely represents the delight I feel from being around dogs and other critters. I especially like to pet animals: I love grooming horses, scratching dogs, stroking cats, and offering massages to any beast I can get my hands on! I enjoy playing with animals, too. I love how they exist in the moment and the purity of the joy they experience.
In addition to being a pet-sitter, I am also a photographer and an artist, operating under the name c.creativity. I specialize in macro photography, which entails taking extreme closeups of small objects so when pictured in a photograph, the object is larger than life size. Naturally, I also love to take pictures of dogs and other animals! I sell some of my work in my online Etsy store and I'm building up a stock photography profile. I also like to draw, especially dogs (you can see one of my works on the right), and I do some design work as well. I post new work nearly every day on my c.creativity Facebook page--please stop by!
My own dog is a sweet brindle girl that I adopted from the Seattle Animal Shelter more than eight years ago. She's been a wonderful companion and has taught me much about the positive power of dogs. She's getting a bit gray around the muzzle now, but her playful personality is as vibrant as ever and I hope she'll be snuggling with me yet for years to come.
